About NACFC and Content Access

What is NACFC?
The North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference (NACFC) is the premiere conference for cystic fibrosis researchers and clinicians to learn about and collaborate around the latest advances in CF research and care.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation also aims to increase the accessibility of medical and research information of interest to the community by making NACFC content available for free online.

How can I access NACFC content?

  • During the event - Anyone can virtually participate in NACFC by watching livestreamed sessions (video and audio) in real time, including plenaries and select symposia and workshops. Click here to register for free NACFC livestream access. Please note that registration for livestream is separate from onsite NACFC registration.
  • After the event – The majority of NACFC sessions are available for free online via the NACFC Content Library in the weeks following the conference. Livestreamed sessions (video and audio) are available 24 hours after the initial broadcast. Non-livestreamed sessions, including nearly all symposia and workshop presentations (slides and audio), will be posted online in December.

Register here for free access to the NACFC Content Library. If you already registered for the livestream, you can use that same log-in information for the content library.

Why aren’t all sessions livestreamed?
We are unable to livestream more than two NACFC sessions at one time due to technical limitations, so we survey the CF community each year to help prioritize which conference sessions are livestreamed. Regardless if a session is livestreamed, the majority of NACFC sessions (slides and audio) are available for free online via the NACFC Content Library starting in December.

Streaming Flash Player

I click on the Play or Preview button and nothing happens.
If you have previously clicked one of these buttons and the player did appear, please check your open browser windows. The new content will be in the same window as the previous one. If you did not previously see the player, please make sure that you have both popup's and javascript enabled for arc.nacfconference.org.

I can see the streaming flash player but I can't hear any audio.
First check to see if the audio stream has loaded. To do this, look at the second set of numbers in the control bar ie (0:00:00). This set of numbers should display the total time of the session. If you do not see these number please read next FAQ question. If you do see these numbers and the first set is counting up, please check your computer's audio settings and volume. Make sure you have speakers or headphones attached to your computer and that they are working.

The streaming flash player has loaded but the audio stream has not.
Please wait 30 seconds without clicking any buttons to see if the audio loads. If it does not please visit the Customer Support page and click the Run Test button. Once the test is finished, copy and paste the resulting text into a support request. If the test has failed, you may be behind a firewall or proxy server that has been set to not allow access to streaming content.

The presentation is pausing and restarting during playback.
This is a sign that your connection does not have the bandwidth to successfully stream this content. Your computer is buffering X seconds based on your connection and then starting to play the content. When the buffer runs out because your connection can't keep up, the stream will stop and re-buffer the content. This could be a temporary problem with a broadband connection such as a Cable Modem or DSL. For users using Dial-Up connections, some content may play fine depending on your current connection. We do not support the streaming of content on any Dial-Up connection. Please download the audio and slide files located next to the play button for local playback. We recommend a broadband connection (DSL, Cable Modem, Fiber, or LAN ) for all streaming playback.
