S21 - S21--INF/MIC: Impact of CFTR - Modulation on Infection

Description

This session will review the impact of CFTR modulation on infection. The first half of the session will review the mechanisms by which CFTR modulation might alter host inflammation and treatment of infections. The second half of the session will review the epidemiology of how the introduction of CFTR modulators has affected the microbiology of CF airway infection and the gastrointestinal microbiome.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the impact of CFTR-related immune dysfunction on infection.
  • Describe how CFTR modulators affect antimicrobial activity.
  • Discuss the influence of CFTR modulators on the microbiology of the airway and gastrointestinal tract.
