Description
This session will explore current topics in nutrition related to cystic fibrosis care. As life expectancy continues to increase, it becomes increasingly important to examine the impact of early growth and the effects on respiratory and nutrition outcomes, the prevalence of obesity in CF, and the relationship between body composition and lung function. This session will also look at effects of enzyme dosing on weight gain and the effectiveness of a novel enzyme therapy.
Learning Objectives:
- Summarize dosing patterns of PERT in infants with CF during the first six months of life and identify factors influencing PERT dosing as well as discuss the effectiveness of a novel enzyme preparation.
- Explore effects of birth weight on respiratory and nutrition outcomes.
- Assess the prevalence and implications of obesity in CF as well as describe the impact of body composition on pulmonary exacerbations.
