Description
This session will focus on the role of CFTR in normal exocrine pancreatic function & how defects predispose to pancreatitis. The link between specific CFTR mutations & risk for pancreatitis & exocrine pancreatic insufficiency will be discussed. Lastly, the impact of CFTR on beta cell function & the factors that predispose to CF-related diabetes mellitus will be reviewed.

- Identify how specific CFTR mutations predict the risk of pancreatitis & the implications for specific therapies.
- Describe the impact of loss of normal CFTR function on beta cell function & its clinical implications.
