Chronic pain is a common issue in individuals with CF. When identified, health care providers routinely prescribe pharmacological agents to reduce the burden of pain. This session will discuss the current state of pain issues and delve into non-pharmacological interventions, such as physical medicine and behavioral modification, useful in pain management strategies for individuals with CF.
Review the qualitative descriptors of pain in CF.
Recall the complementary and non-pharmacologic modalities for pain.
Describe practical techniques in behavioral and physical therapy, such as: hypnosis, behavior modification and thoracic release, and identify how these learned techniques can be implemented with minimal effort or resources.
