In this symposium, pediatric and adult gastroenterologists will discuss the evaluation and management of gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary disease in CF. Topics include screening for gastrointestinal malignancies, placement and management of enteral feeding tubes, diagnosis and management of DIOS and constipation including differentiating between the two conditions, and screening and management of CF related liver disease. In addition, the moderators will discuss the DIGEST program and plans for work in best practices in gastrointestinal disease.

Educational Objectives:
  • Practice evidence-based screening for gastrointestinal malignancies and CF related liver disease.
  • Describe the role of the gastroenterologist in evaluating patients for feeding tube placement and managing enteral feedings.
  • Apply practice guidelines for the diagnosis and management of DIOS and constipation.
