This introductory short course on nutrition in CF is designed for healthcare providers who are new to CF. This course will emphasize the role of nutrition in optimizing CF outcomes and the practical application of medical nutrition therapy for CF throughout the lifespan. Specific topics will include: general age-appropriate nutrition recommendations, pediatric feeding behavior, pancreatic enzyme replacement, the CF gut and GI challenges, vitamin and mineral supplementation, pregnancy, CF-related diabetes, and supplemental nutrition therapy. Available educational resources and current evidence-based literature will be provided and reviewed. By the end of the course, participants will have the resources to provide basic nutrition care in CF clinical practice. This class is not intended for advanced nutrition and CF practitioners.
