Lizzie Grillo MSc MCSP is a Highly Specialist Physiotherapist working at the Royal Brompton Hospital. She has been working at the Brompton since 2005 where she began as the Senior Physiotherapist working with Cystic Fibrosis and Bronchiectasis. Over the last 12 years she has developed her clinical role and is now the Therapy Lead, leading services within adult respiratory medicine. Within this role she leads a multidisciplinary team to deliver care to patients with chronic lung disease. Moreover she provides expert intervention to patients requiring support for airway clearance, exercise and breathing exercises. She completed her MSc in Advanced Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy in 2012 at UCL in London where she completed a research project looking at outcome measures to evaluate stable and exacerbating bronchiectasis. After completing her MSc she was invited to be a Senior Teaching Fellow on this course. Alongside her clinical and teaching role she is also Chair of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapist in Respiratory Care (ACPRC) a group of over 1000 physiotherapists working to inspire excellence in respiratory care. She has also been involved in the UK British Thoracic Society (BTS) Bronchiectasis and Asthma Guidelines and has published articles on airway clearance, in particular the importance of the physiological principles behind these techniques.
