My research focuses on pH regulation involved in physiological processes. Currently, I am characterizing transepithelial pH transport in the airway, where pH dysregulation is relevant to diseases such as cystic fibrosis, asthma, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. My main foci are (1) acid-base physiology and regulation in the intact airway epithelium and (2) biophysical properties of acid-base transporters pertinent to the airway.
