Daina Kalnins, MSc., RD Daina Kalnins is the Director of Clinical Dietetics at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario, CANADA. The vision of the Department is to 'Champion Excellence in Pediatric Nutrition' and our Mission is 'To Provide the Highest Quality, Safe and Fiscally Responsible Nutrition Support and Guidance'. Daina's main research interests and clinical experiences are in the area of Cystic Fibrosis; enzyme therapy, nutrition and lung transplant. She has been an invited speaker (on topic of Nutrition and CF) at numerous national and international meetings, and is first author on several peer reviewed articles. Daina is co-author of the Sick Kids series of nutrition books; Better Baby Food, Better Food for Kids, Better Food for Pregnancy and Better Breastfeeding. Daina also authored a book on nutrition for children (aged 8 to ~15 years) as the target audience YUM, Your Ultimate Manual for good nutrition. Daina lives in Toronto with her two teenagers and husband, who were all consulted extensively during the recipe development for the series of nutrition books. Daina's children are her pride and joy. They love their food and enjoy exploring different tastes and foods from different countries. Their texts to their mom to add to the grocery list always include an abundance of fruit and berries, yoghurt, cheese, and of course, chocolate. To healthy and happy eating always!
