Talissa Altes, MD
Dr. Altes is pediatric radiologist and Chair of Radiology at the University of Missouri. Her area of research is lung imaging. Dr Altes and her colleagues at University of Virginia pioneered a number of techniques and clinical applications of hyperpolarized gas MRI. She has published over 80 peer-reviewed papers. Prior to joining MU, she was the Division Director of Pediatric Radiology and the Vice Chair of Research at the University of Virginia. She went to medical school at the University of Washington in Seattle and did her radiology residency at the University of Virginia. Her pediatric radiology fellowship was done at University of Virginia and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. She was on faculty at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and then The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia prior to returning to University of Virginia. Prior to entering medicine, Dr. Altes was an electrical engineer and developed stealth communication systems.
