Sandra Budd earned her BS in Biology at Elizabethtown College in 1994 and became a certified Medical Technologist in 1995. Later that year, Ms. Budd began her career at A.I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE in the Clinical Immunology Lab. In 2001, she transitioned to coordinating clinical trials in the hospital’s Division of Clinical Pharmacology. Initially a generalist coordinator, Ms. Budd became involved with Cystic Fibrosis research in 2005 at about the time the EPIC trials began. Since that time, her role in CF research has increased dramatically over the years and she has become an important member of the CF Care Team at A.I. duPont. This role includes preparing studies for submission to local regulatory groups as well as interfacing with study sponsors, study participants and study team members to ensure that protocol activities are completed appropriately. Ms. Budd also meets with families during clinic visits to discuss their questions about research participation and recent advances in CF research. Additional responsibilities include managing the CF Patient Registry and serving as a resource to Care Team members who are interested in pursuing research projects.
