Nadia Islam Ph.D.

Teaching Motivational Interviewing Skills to Parents of Children and Adolescents with CF

Nadia Islam obtained her PhD in child clinical psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University and completed her internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill School of Medicine. Her research focuses on motivational interviewing, therapeutic alliance, treatment engagement and adherence. Dr. Islam has particular expertise in pediatric behavioral medicine, motivational interviewing, and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). She is passionate about increasing access to mental health care in pediatric medical settings. Upon recent completion of her post-doctoral fellowship at UNC, Dr. Islam developed a position as a pediatric psychologist with The Pediatric Center in Richmond, VA.
