Ashley Cooney Ph.D.

Postdoctoral Research Scholar

Ashley Cooney received her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Iowa. She continued her graduate work at the University of Iowa in the Department of Microbiology. Her graduate work focused on understanding viral vector entry into lung cells and developing integrating vector systems. She has dedicated her research to developing viral vectors to deliver the CFTR gene to CF airway epithelia and correct the anion channel defect. The overall goal of her work is to develop a 'one-time' vector to efficiently and persistently express CFTR and prevent the onset of lung disease.
