Antoinette Gardner B.S.N., M.Ed., A.E.-C., CCRC

Clinical/Research Nurse Specialist, LSU Health Sciences Ctr., Shreveport

My background includes 30 years of experience working with CF patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Antoinette has her BSN from the LSU Medical Center in New Orleans and completed course work for the Pediatric Pulmonary Clinical Nurse Specialist master’s program at the State University of New York in Buffalo and has a master’s in education. I served as the pediatric nursing representative to the CF Foundation patient education committee for 3 years and have been on the NACFC program planning committee for the last 5 years. I have been the CF coordinator at LSUHSC in Shreveport since 1987, working with both adults and children with cystic fibrosis. I am actively involved in quality improvement at our CF center and served as a QI coach for the CF Foundation for 3 years. I have given numerous regional and national talks on cystic fibrosis over the past 25 years. Our state began mandatory newborn screening for CF in 2007 and has been challenged with a new set of issues and concerns from parents, family members and the primary care provider. This has led us to refocus and readjust our interactions and teachings with families.
