Geneviève Mailhot, PhD is a registered dietitian and an associate professor in the Department of Nutrition, University of Montreal. After receiving her BSc in nutrition from University of Montreal, she completed a PhD studying the influence of calcium and vitamin D deficiency on liver and bone metabolism in 2004 at the CHUM Research Center in Montreal. She then went to the University of Massachusetts Medical School to complete postdoctoral studies in skeletal biology, from 2004 to 2006. She moved back to Montreal to complete a second postdoc at the Research Center CHU Sainte-Justine in cystic fibrosis. She has been an independent investigator at the Research Center CHU Sainte-Justine since 2010 where she conducts basic and clinical research on 1) lung transplant nutritional issues, 2) cystic fibrosis bone disease, 3) vitamin D homeostasis in rare and chronic conditions (cystic fibrosis, sickle cell disease, asthma, Crohn’s disease), and anti-inflammatory properties of vitamin D at the intestinal level.
