RN Coordinator

Ben McCullar, RN, BSN began working with the CF community as an inpatient RN in the adult Internal Medicine unit at Oregon Health & Science University. After a brief stint as a home health RN working with CF patients on home IV therapy, he accepted a year-long position as a Nurse Research Coordinator in the CF Center at Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland, Oregon. In 2003, he re-joined the CF team as the full-time pediatric RN coordinator. The Doernbecher CF team serves 240 patients across Oregon and SW Washington. Under the leadership of center director Mike Powers, the Doernbecher CF team has put emphasis on quality improvement and making the patient experience better. The team has was a part of the LLC8 QI collaborative and is now a member of the pilot CF Learning Network (CFLN). Ben became the QI Coordinator as part of the CFLN initiative and, along with a hard-working QI team, has helped bring about effective change for the patients and families of Doernbecher.
