I am interested in complex bacterial populations and their relationship to disease. Many infections within the human body are host to highly diverse communities of microbes, all of which are capable of interaction and diversification, allowing them to persist in chronic infections. Many microbial social interactions, both inter and intra-species are involved in this setting and I am interested in examining the fitness requirements and spatial organization of bacteria during chronic cystic fibrosis (CF) infection.
