Viktoria Havasi M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Havasi received her M.D. from the University of Pecs in Hungary in 2001, and completed Ph.D. studies there in molecular biology from 2001-2004. She subsequently spent two and a half years as a postdoctoral research scholar (2006-2008) in Dr. Eric J. Sorscher’s laboratory in the Gregory Fleming James Cystic Fibrosis Research Center at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. At UAB, she studied the genetic background of a CFTR-related disorder, congenital bilateral absence of the vas deferens, and also developed expertise of working with CF animal models. Dr. Havasi received her PhD degree from Semmelweis University in Hungary in 2014. Her research has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, and she has contributed to ten book chapters. Dr. Havasi has had poster presentations (including two posters that were selected for oral presentations) annually at the North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference since 2007. She is currently working at UAB in Dr. Michael Stalvey's laboratory where she is studying CF-related endocrine diseases utilizing different rodent models.
