Clinical Pharmacist Specialist

Dr. Fitzgerald received her PharmD from University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2004. She completed her Pharmacy Practice residency and Critical Care Specialty residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania from 2004-2006. She joined the Michigan Medicine in 2006 as the clinical pharmacist specialist with the lung transplant team. This role includes education of new transplant patients, providing recommendations in various pharmacotherapy: immunosuppression, prophylaxis, antimicrobial selection, monitoring immunosuppression levels, managing drug-drug interactions, and participating in multiple quality improvement/research projects. In 2012, Dr. Fitzgerald's role expanded to caring for inpatient adult cystic fibrosis patients. Since 2016, Dr. Fitzgerald has established clinical pharmacy services and presence in the adult cystic fibrosis ambulatory care clinic. She also is actively involved in the cystic fibrosis quality improvement team. Dr. Fitzgerald has precepted multiple students and residents on the medicine pulmonary rotation, in addition, to establishing and serving as the program director of the PGY2 Solid Organ Transplant Residency program. Dr. Fitzgerald is actively involved in numerous professional committees and is the author/co-author of more than 10 scientific articles and book chapters.
