Elika Rad received her MS in nursing in 2006 from University of California, San Francisco, prior to this practicing as a critical care RN for 5 years in the Intermediate Intensive Care Unit at Stanford Healthcare. She has been a nurse practitioner with the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Center at Stanford Healthcare since 2008. In 2013, Ms. Rad assumed the role of Quality Improvement Strategist in addition to her role as Nurse Practitioner. Her role involves caring for approximately 200 adult patients with CF, active engagement in quality improvement projects, initiation and implementation of strategies to promote clinical efficiency among the adult team, serving as preceptor for NP students, as well as serving as clinical representative for the Adult CF Advisory Committee (ACFAC). Ms. Rad has developed and implemented center protocols and has drafted guidelines for pulmonary fellows and nocturnists who are involved in after-hours care of CF patients. Annually Ms. Rad serves as faculty speaker for CF Education Day as well as inpatient nursing education lectures. She will also be serving as Pulmonary faculty for the annual Stanford Advanced Practice Provider (APP) series this Fall. Current research interests include management of Distal Intestinal Obstruction Syndrome (DIOS) as well as treatment and management of non-tuberculosis mycobacterium (NTM) in CF. Ms. Rad is recognized at Stanford for her contributions to the improvement of CF care.
