Jamie L. Cary has a BA in psychology, and became a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) in 2009. For the past 5 years she has served as a full-time CCLS to specifically support the children at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University/Golisano Children's Hospital Cystic Fibrosis Center. The Center supports 155 patients from 17 counties in upstate New York including immigrant, Amish, and Mennonite populations. The CCLS provides psychosocial support to patients and their families through collaboration with physicians, nurses, and multi-disciplinary staff. Mrs. Cary has published 4 abstracts regarding the care of patients with CF. Mrs. Cary has mentored child life practicum students from Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY from the department of Children and Family Studies. She has been a professional member of the Child Life council since November of 2009. Her professional interests include adherence and transitions throughout the life span of patients with cystic fibrosis.
