Liron Birimberg-Schwartz M.D.

Dr. Birimberg-Schwartz received her M.D. from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Israel) in 2010. After completing her internship at the Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem in 2011 and her residency in pediatric medicine in 2016, she began her sub-specialty fellowship training in the Department of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children, where she is now in her fourth and final year. Dr. Birimberg-Schwartz's research during her residency, focused on the differential diagnosis of pediatric colonic Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) and establishing the diagnostic criteria for IBD-Unclassified. Her fellowship training is focused on pediatric pancreatic diseases and gastrointestinal manifestations of Cystic Fibrosis. Her current research-for which she has been awarded the Hospital for Sick Children Research Training Centre (Restracomp) research fellowship award, focuses on the comparison of in-vitro platforms for the testing of Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane conductance Regulator (CFTR) function and response to CFTR-modifying drugs.
