Yan Wei Lim received her BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science in 2006 from the University of Sunderland, UK. She worked at the Genome Institute of Singapore from 2006 to 2009 prior to her graduate studies at San Diego State University (SDSU). In 2009, she joined the Global Viral Forecasting Initiative to set up next generation sequencing technologies at SDSU while discovering and characterizing the viral communities from human-associated samples. Recently, she successfully brought a sequencer to an expedition across the Southern Line Islands, one of the world most remote locations.
