Afroditi Avgerinou B.Sc., M.Sc.


Afroditi Avgerinou received her BSc in Biology from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece and later continued her formal education with an MSc in Cancer, Stem Cells and Developmental Biology in Utrecht University, the Netherlands. Currently, she is completing her PhD in Gene and Cell Therapy in University College London and the Francis Crick Institute. She has worked as a researcher in multiple teams (including in Wageningen University, University Medical Centre Utrecht and GOS Institute of Child Health) in the fields of gene therapy, cell therapy, regenerative medicine, molecular biology, population genetics, rare diseases and bioinformatics. During her MSc she was the holder of the Academy of Athens Scholarship for studies in Molecular Biology and for her PhD studies she is funded by a Cystic Fibrosis Trust UK Studentship. She has received multiple awards in conferences for her research and with her public engagement talk she won the Cystic Fibrosis's got Talent Competition in the 2018 UK Cystic Fibrosis Trust Conference in Birmingham.
