Debbie Benitez is the Nurse Coordinator and Nurse Practitioner at the Center for Cystic Fibrosis at the Keck Medical Center of USC in Los Angeles, CA. She has been in this role for the past 15 years. Debbie attended the University of Southern California, School of Nursing where she received her Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing and later received her Master's degree in Acute Care Nurse Practitioner at the University of California Los Angeles in 2003. Throughout her 15 years in Cystic Fibrosis (CF) care, Debbie has been involved within the CF community in various facets. She has participated in committees such as the Partnerships for Sustaining Daily Care, Peer to Peer mentoring, Care Model of the Future, Advance Practice, and the Program Planning Committee (PPC) for the NACFC. She is an active member of the CF community as a speaker and advisor for pharmaceutical companies and has participated in webcasts and patient education videos for CF. Currently, she serves as the Nursing chair of the NACFC PPC for the past few years and is the Quality Improvement coordinator for her care team involvement in the CF Pilot Learning Network. Throughout her nursing career she has been honored to receive Nurse Patient Advocate of the Year and Advanced Practice Nurse of the Year from the Keck Medical Center of USC. She was also a recent recipient of the Mary Kontos Clinical Care Champion Award this past November 2017 at the NACF conference in Indianapolis.
