Robert C. Ford Ph.D.

University of Manchester

After completing my postdoctoral research at University College London, I was recruited as a project leader (Projektleiter) at the University of Basel. This was an independent position equivalent to a Assistant Professor) with a 5 year tenure period. This position allowed me to develop my own research programme in membrane proteins and structural biology. In 1990, I was recruited by the University of Manchester as a Faculty member. My research has continued on structural biology of membrane proteins. In the last 15 years I have focused my research efforts on the ATP-binding cassette transporter family. I was appointed to Full Professor in (Personal Chair in Structural Biology) in 2005 and have authored or co-authored over 150 publications with >100 in peer reviewed journals.
