Julianna Bailey received BS in Nutrition and Food Science in 2009 from Auburn University. She completed her Dietetic Internship and earned MS in Clinical Nutrition from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 2011 where she was selected to complete the Maternal and Child Health Bureau funded UAB Pediatric Pulmonary Center Nutrition Traineeship. Ms. Bailey completed her thesis study on vitamin D supplementation in pediatric patients with CF while working part time as a Registered Dietitian (RD) in the CF center at Children's of Alabama. From 2011-2014 she was the primary RD in the pediatric and adult CF Center and the pediatric lung transplant program at Boston Children's Hospital. She is currently the RD for the UAB Adult CF Center. Ms. Bailey has designed and led multiple clinical Quality Improvement projects in the CF center and recently assumed the role of Quality Improvement Coordinator for the UAB Adult CF Center. In 2012, she authored a book chapter on Cystic Fibrosis Nutrition for the Manual of Pediatric Nutrition (5th Edition), and authored the Pediatric Nutrition Care Manual chapter on Lung Transplant Nutrition. In 2017 she received the Alabama Dietetic Association Emerging Leader in Dietetics Award. Ms. Bailey is currently pursuing PhD in Health Education and Health Promotion in the UAB School of Public Health. Current research interests include body composition and obesity in CF, behavioral interventions to improve nutritional status, optimal nutrition care of the adult with CF, and exploring health disparities in the CF population.
