Dr. Conrad is a Professor of Medicine in the UC San Diego School of Medicine. He has directed the UCSD Adult Cystic Fibrosis program since 1996 and has been involved with adult CF Clinical care since 1989. His original research focused on the regulation of airway inflammation. More recently, he has focused on the ecological interactions of the bacterial and viral populations in CF airway secretions and in particular how metagenomic information provides insights in to community biology. These genetic studies have been extended to metabolomic studies and characteristics of the patients with specific metagenomic and metabolomic profiles.
