Maria Rayas M.D.

Assistant Professor

Dr. Maria 'Sukie Rayas' graduated from Washington and Lee University with a BS in Psychology in 2002. She then attended the University of Texas Health San Antonio (UTHSA) Medical School in 2007. She continued her training at UTHSA and graduated from Pediatric Residency in 2010 and Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship in June 2013. Dr. Rayas joined the faculty of UTHSA in August 2013 as an Assistant Professor in the division of Pediatric Diabetes and Endocrinology. She is the endocrinologist dedicated to managing CF-related endocrine disorders in children and adults at her institution. As a recipient of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation EnVision Grant, she has been able to collaborate with outstanding CF-endocrinologists. In collaboration with Drs. Kara Hughan and Andrea Kelly, her current research is to evaluate the impact of liver disease on glucose abnormalities in patients with cystic fibrosis.
