Currently Director of Research and Care at the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Initially trained in medicine at University of London UK and practised internal medicine in academic medical units for 5 years. Obtained a Wellcome Trust fellowship which allowed me to train in molecular immunology at Harvard Medical School. Returned to the UK to faculty positions at University of Cambridge and then University of Glasgow where I held the Chair of Molecular Medicine. In 1998, I transitioned into pharmaceutical industry initially Parke Davis, then Pfizer. Responsible for global portfolio in inflammation and allergy. Then moved to biotechnology company, Inpharmatica as head of Discovery Biology working on Nuclear Receptors. Susbsequently Director of the Conway Institute for Biomolecular and Biomedical Research in Dublin and then Director of Research for Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council.
