Ran Anbar M.D.

Ran D. Anbar, MD, is President and Founder of Center Point Medicine, a pediatric medical hypnosis and counseling practice in La Jolla, CA. He served as Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine at the SUNY Upstate Medical University and Director of the Robert C. Schwartz Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Center in Syracuse for 21 years until 2015. Prior to that, he was Associate Director of the CF Center at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Anbar completed a fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonology at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA, which was sponsored by a CF Foundation grant. Dr. Anbar has been principal investigator in over 50 investigator initiated and multi-center research trials involving patients with CF. He has published more than 15 CF-related original articles. In addition to his work with CF, he has collaborated in several research projects involving patients with asthma, gastroesophageal reflux, and prematurely born infants. Dr. Anbar became involved with hypnotherapy 17 years ago, and has used it extensively for his patients with CF. He has lectured throughout the world regarding hypnosis. He has published 14 articles and abstracts about use of self-hypnosis in patients with CF, and many other articles about hypnosis with other health conditions. Dr. Anbar is Past President and a Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. Dr. Anbar is editor of the recent published textbooks, 'Functional Respiratory Disorders: When Respiratory Symptoms Do Not Respond to Pulmonary Treatment,' and “Functional Symptoms in Pediatric Disease: A Clinical Guide.”
