CF Respiratory Specialist
Catherine O'Malley attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (1974-76, 1977-78) and Loyola University of Rome in Italy (1976-77), and received an Associate in Science degree from Triton College in River Grove, Illinois in 1985. She has been a respiratory therapist at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago since 1985. In 1993, Catherine O'Malley joined the Cystic Fibrosis team, and in 1995 received the position of the Cystic Fibrosis Specialist in the Respiratory Care Department. Currently, Catherine is full time in the Pulmonary/Cystic Fibrosis Division and is the respiratory therapist at the Lurie Children's CF Center's pediatric program. Catherine's professional certifications include the National Board for Respiratory Care Registry Exam in 1993 and the National Board for Respiratory Perinatal/Pediatric Specialty Exam in 1994. Catherine was a member of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's planning committee for NACFC from 2005-2010 representing Physical and Respiratory Therapy. In addition, Catherine was a member of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Committee on Infection Control in CF in 2001 and 2011. She is twice published in the Respiratory Care Journal with respect to Infection Prevention and Control in CF.
