Nikki Orkoskey is the inpatient child life specialist on the complex pulmonary unit at Cincinnati Childrens™ Hospital Medical Center. She received her BS in child development from West Virginia University in 1994 and MA in child life from the University of Akron in 2001. While earning her MA, Ms. Orkoskey completed a thesis entitled A Multidisciplinary Approach to the Treatment of Pediatric Patients with Cystic Fibrosis: Scheduling Patients™ Treatments and Daily Activities. She has worked with patients with cystic fibrosis for 16 years; 3 years spent at Arkansas Childrens™ Hospital and the last 13 years at Cincinnati Childrens Hospital Center. Ms. Orkoskey has presented at the National Child Life Conference on a variety of topics, including the use of schedules to increase compliance in patients with cystic fibrosis and transitioning care from pediatric to adult healthcare, with a focus on cystic fibrosis. Ms. Orkoskey presented at the 2013 NACFC on the topic of non-pharmacological pain management for pediatric patients with cystic fibrosis.
