Dr. Kullgren is an assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Michigan/C.S. Mott Children's Hosptial. Dr. Kullgren is the director of the Pediatric Psychology Consultation-Liaison Program. She has a broad background in pediatric psychology interventions and research wth chronically ill youth. In her graduate training, her research focused on factors predicting psychological outcomes in youth with brain tumors and HIV infection. Following graduation, she took a position as a psychologist at St. Louis Childrens™ Hospital/Washington University School of Medicine that was largely a clinical position focused on pediatric transplant and inpatient consultation. Her research focused largely on adherence to transplant medical regimens. In her current position, Dr. Kullgren directs a consult service that serves the entire hospital addressing concerns for adjustment to illness, medical adherence, mood disorders, etc. Though the course of her career she has mentored many undergraduates, graduate students, and other staff on their research. She has secured internal grant funding for a project to develop peer education videos to promote positive coping in hospitalized youth. Her current research focuses on the practice of consultation-liaison psychology across different populations of youth admitted to the hospital.
