Kathryn Cooney, LICSW received her B.S. in Psychology in 1989 and M.S.W. in 1997 with specialization in Family Mental Health from Syracuse University. Prior to joining both the adult and pediatric care teams in 2005, she was a psychotherapist with the Hasbro Children's Hospital Partial Hospital Program, one of the few med/psych programs in the country. Ms Cooney was a recipient of the CFF MHC grant for 2016-2018 during which she implemented online peer consultation groups for providers new to CF and MH care. She has led the QI efforts in transition at her center, including establishing a formal transition protocol and implementation of CF RISE. Ms Cooney is currently completing teacher training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction(MBSR) with UCSD and is interested in the impact of MBIs on HRQL in cystic fibrosis.
