Ronald Rubenstein M.D., Ph.D.

Ron Rubenstein, MD, PhD is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, and is Director of the Cystic Fibrosis Center at the Children"s Hospital of Philadelphia. At CHOP he also holds the Richard B. Johnston, Jr. Endowed Chair in Pediatrics. He has served on numerous review panels and committees, including presently Chairing the CF Foundation Clinical Research Committee, and previously Chairing CHOP's IRB. His laboratory's research focuses on the regulation of CFTR and epithelial sodium channel biogenesis and trafficking. He also has a long-standing basic and translational interest in novel, mechanism-based therapeutics for CF, especially with regards to the mechanisms by which small molecules effect correction of F508del-CFTR trafficking by modulating the action of molecular chaperones. Finally, Dr. Rubenstein has more recently developed a keen mechanistic interest in the molecular mechanisms underlying Cystic Fibrosis Related Diabetes.
